President

Avery is a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, pursuing a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a Human Biology concentration and a B.A. in Anthropology. She is on a pre-medical track with aspirations of becoming an OB/GYN. As a member of NC State's chapter of AED since the fall of 2024, Avery has remained an active member of the organization, serving as internal social chair for the 2025-2026 academic year, making many friends and countless memories. Her favorite part of AED is the community of hard-working individuals striving towards a pre-health career just like her. This year, Avery is excited to help AED grow, facilitate meaningful connections, and create networking opportunities for the organization's members. 

This past summer, Avery spent a month shadowing physicians in Milan, Italy and volunteering at UNC Rex Hospital. This year, Avery is completing her medical assistant certification, preparing for the MCAT exam, and researching with the Department of Anthropology at NC State. Outside of AED, Avery is involved in Pack Abroad Ambassadors and the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Club. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, reading, and up-cycling clothes. Avery is dedicated to building professional relationships, providing networking opportunities, and establishing a welcoming pre-health community at NC State. She is proud to be a board member of AED and looks forward to meeting new members!

Vice President

Adrian is a junior from Puerto Rico majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology. He is on a pre-medical track with goals to become an orthopedic surgeon specializing in muscle/tendon repair. Adrian joined AED in the fall of 2025 and has been an active member, attending meetings, joining in on social events with fellow AED members, and serving communities through AED’s service events. 

Set on his goals of becoming a doctor Adrian took a trip over the spring of 2026 to help serve impoverished communities in Costa Rica and over summer he shadowed a pharmacist in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently he is involved in paleontological research with the Department of Biological Sciences here at NC State. Outside of AED Adrian is a part of the Backpacking Club and Medlife. In his free time he enjoys going to the gym, reading, trying different cafes, and traveling.

Treasurer/Fundraiser

Selin is a junior from Raleigh majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and a minor in Psychology. She is on the pre-dental track, with interests in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics. Since joining AED in the fall of 2025, Selin has been an active member, attending chapter events and valuing the community and opportunities AED provides for pre-health students at NC State.

Pursuant to her goal of attending dental school, Selin recently obtained her dental assisting certifications to gain more hands-on clinical experience in the field. On campus, she is actively involved with the Pre-Dental Club and Feed the Pack. In her free time, she enjoys baking sourdough, playing tennis, and traveling. She looks forward to serving as treasurer this year, forming meaningful connections with members, and creating a supportive environment within AED!

Secretary/Historian

Nishant is a senior from New Orleans, Louisiana, but was raised in Raleigh. He is majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Genetics on the pre-medical track, aspiring to become a gastroenterologist or an orthopedic or vascular surgeon. Since joining AED in Fall ‘24, Nishant has made many meaningful friendships with like-minded peers, whether through AED fundraisers or through service trips to Costa Rica. Nishant is especially grateful for the family-like sense of community AED has provided, which he plans to share with future generations of pre-health students pursuing the same goals.

This past summer, Nishant primarily focused on MCAT preparation, in addition to volunteering with the American Red Cross and extensively shadowing physicians in gastroenterology and orthopedic surgery. Alongside a former AED member, he also serves as Vice President of Elevate Minds Foundation, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a chatbot designed to support children with autism.

This school year, Nishant will be emphasizing clinical work at UNC Rex. Looking ahead, he is considering returning to volunteer in Costa Rica over winter break – for a third time – and working toward CNA certification next semester. Beyond his pre-medical pursuits, Nishant loves lifting at the gym, cooking, wrestling his younger brother Krish, or horsing around with his lab-pit, Sophie. He is always happy to meet new people, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to talk to someone or connect!

Pledge Coordinator

Caroline is a senior from Mooresville North Carolina who is graduating this December with a B.S in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and a minor in Psychology. She is planning on applying to Physician Assistant school this April. As a member of AED since fall of 2024 she has been able to surround herself with those who have strong career aspirations like her. This year Caroline is the Pledge Coordinator as she is in charge of the new pledges and initiates. Caroline is beyond excited to introduce new students to the great community AED has created for her. 

Caroline is a certified EMT and is currently working as a medical assistant/scribe at a family medicine practice in Raleigh. Caroline volunteered through UNC Rex on the PACU floor last year and was able to see a great healthcare team first hand. She plays club soccer at NCSU and loves to paint and hang out with friends on the weekends.

Caroline is most excited to meet the new pre-health students that are joining AED. She plans on matching new members with those in similar classes and those with similar career aspirations in order for them to form strong relationships that can be used down the road. Caroline loves meeting new people so if you see her on campus don't be afraid to say hi! Go Pack!

Service Coordinator

Caitlyn is a senior at North Carolina State University on the pre-medical track, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. She is passionate about pursuing a career in medicine and hopes to combine her love for healthcare with her commitment to serving others. Through her involvement in AED, Caitlyn has found a community that has helped her grow both personally and professionally while connecting her with others who share her passion for medicine and service.

One of her most meaningful experiences with AED has been participating in the Service Learning Trip to Costa Rica, where she had the opportunity to serve underserved communities while forming lasting connections with fellow members. Her passion for service has also taken her beyond the United States, including volunteering at an orphanage and serving in a NICU in Tanzania. Along with her experiences volunteering in South Africa, working with children through ministry, and serving with adults with disabilities, these experiences have strengthened her desire to pursue a career in medicine centered around compassion, service, and meaningful connections with others.

Caitlyn is passionate about building genuine connections and creating a welcoming community where everyone feels supported and is able to feel comfortable. She hopes to contribute to AED by helping create meaningful service opportunities and experiences that allow members to grow, connect, and explore their passion for healthcare. She loves to get cozy with a cup of tea, a freshly baked cookie and a new book and is always happy to connect, whether you have a question, need support, or simply want to say hello and share a laugh!

External Social Chair

Summer is a junior from Huntersville, North Carolina, majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and a minor in Psychology. She is on the pre-medical track and hopes to work in pediatrics. Since becoming a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta in the fall of 2025, Summer has enjoyed getting involved in the chapter’s strong network of pre-healthcare students. As this year's External Social Chair, she will plan events with other organizations at N.C. State to foster connections within the pre-health community, as well as organize the end of year semi-formal!

Summer is a certified CNA who volunteers weekly on the OR Recovery floor at UNC REX. This past summer, she studied abroad with NCSU Prague, studying the microbiology of plagues and their historical effects on Central Europe. Outside of AED, Summer is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, serving as the Director of the Big/Little process and volunteering with Girl Scouts of America and Prevent Child Abuse America to make a direct impact on the Raleigh community.

Summer is excited for another great year in AED, looks forward to meeting all the new members, and hopes to bring people together through welcoming campus events!

Internal Social Chair

Manaswini is a junior majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and a minor in Human Health and Medicine. She is on the pre-medical track and aspires to pursue a career in anesthesiology. She has been a member of AED since Fall 2025, and some of her favorite memories have been meeting new people, building connections, and getting to know her fellow members through AED’s social, service, and mixer events. As Internal Social Chair, Manaswini is excited to create fun, creative, and engaging events that give AED members opportunities to connect, de-stress, and enjoy time together outside of their commitments. Her goal this year is to bring new ideas to AED events while maintaining open communication with members to create experiences that everyone can look forward to.

This past summer, Manaswini shadowed in the anesthesia department at UNC Rex, observing both cardiothoracic and obstetric anesthesia, further strengthening her interest in the field. Additionally, she is involved in research at Dr. Hartstone-Rose’s lab in NC State’s Department of Biological Sciences and is currently continuing work on an independent project with hopes of contributing to a publication. She recently earned her CCMA certification and is completing medical externships at various clinics to gain further hands-on clinical experience. She also worked with University Housing as a Summer Start Resident Advisor, where she organized and hosted events and built connections with residents. She also continued volunteering at the UNC Rex Cancer Center throughout the summer.

Outside of academics and other commitments, Manaswini enjoys journaling, reading, scrapbooking, playing ping pong with friends, and board game nights. She is excited to serve on the AED board this year, meet even more members, and make the most of everything the year has to offer!
